Coronavirus – Office Update
Dear friends, patients and family,
This is a letter to update you on how Akler Eye Center will take care of your eye care needs over the next several weeks as we all comply with the stay at home order by Governor Whitmer. To protect both your health and the health of our staff, the following measures have been taken.
The eye center is currently open limited hours (Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:30 – 3:00 in Dearborn) to see emergent and urgent patients by appointment only. We will be spacing out the appointments so that there will be minimal patients in the office during these visits. We are asking that family members stay in the car unless the patient requires their assistance.
For your other eye care needs, including routine follow-up of common conditions such as dry eyes, blepharitis, allergic eye problems, and glaucoma refills we will be offering telemedicine follow-up. Conditions such as styes, swollen eyelids, and red eyes can also potentially be addressed by telemedicine. To schedule a telemedicine appointment, please call the office and if Kathy is not there leave a message and we will call you back and schedule your telemedicine visit. This capability will also allow us to triage your eye problem to determine if an in-office visit is required. These visits can be done with both audio and video on doxy.me/drakler. A computer, tablet or smartphone may all be used to access the site at the time of your appointment. I can call you at your appointment time and walk you through the login process – it’s very straightforward! If you do not have access to the above, a telephone consultation can be arranged as well. I will call you at your appointed time.
Please call our office if you have questions about upcoming appointments or any current eye problems you may be having at 313.563.3937
