Dear colleagues, friends, patients and family,
I am in receipt of communication from the American Academy of Ophthalmology regarding infection risk in some store brands of artificial tears.
The FDA is urging consumers to immediately stop using 26 brands of over the counter eye drops. These brands include CVS Health, Rite Aid and Target Up&Up. There have been no reports of adverse events at this time.

If you have any of these artificial tears at home please stop using them immediately. You can substitute them with brand name artificial tears such as Refresh, Systane, or Thera tears. These should be readily available locally. We also sell many of the brand names here at the office at competitive prices.
