As a physician, I am fortunate to have chosen a career where my skills can be used to improve patients’ quality of life. In the field of ophthalmology I am uniquely positioned to achieve this with vision-saving procedures such as cataract surgery. We also help patients achieve lifestyle goals with LASIK vision correction. The gratitude and positive feedback I receive from patients on their one-day postoperative visit and beyond is a part of my job I never tire of. I am also aware of how lucky I am to be able to earn a living working in a field that is my passion.
At Akler Eye Center, we are proud to give back to the local community that has given us so much. We support the local chapter of the American Council of the Blind, an organization that strives to improve the well-being of all blind and visually-impaired people. We also provide free eye health screenings through Project Healthy Living throughout the Metro Detroit area. Testing includes vision examination and eye pressure testing for glaucoma. One gentleman who is losing his vision due to a growth over the cornea as well as advanced cataracts was connected to local agencies that will cover the costs of the procedures he needs to regain his sight.
Akler Eye Center also participates in EyeCare America, an organization through the American Academy of Ophthalmology that provides free eye care services including evaluations and surgical treatment if needed to qualifying patients.
